Just three acts to go and the competition rolls onwards, and some would say upwards. Can this lot top what's gone before? They're certainly going to try!
Never mind the on-stage raindrops, Faryl Smith had her dad’s eyes streaming as she delivered her audition track, Ave Maria. Wearing a gold frock and looking older than her tender twelve years, Faryl stepped up amid the dry ice smoke and sang out clear as a bell. Simon has always said he’s loved this girl – but is she tonight’s winner. The public vote is the only decider, but that didn’t stop the judges having their say.
Piers began the comments, "You sound like a woman twice your age, but with you its spine tingling, we're reached the height of Paul Potts and possibly higher."
Amanda said, "You blow my mind every time I hear you sing, just a stunning performance darling, well done!"
Simon praised, "I watched you shaking like a leaf and you have to remind yourself that you're 12 year old. In my opinion, you are one of the best finds for a long time. It is world class. I think you are special. The absolute best performance of the night so far."
Piers reckons the next act makes Simon’s eyes go ker-ching! And Escala certainly look every inch the polished superstars already as arrive on stage in silver-studded scarlet frocks. The ladies owned the stage as they played the classical stormer, Palladio. As well as the judges, live audience and folks at home, they were watched by members of popband McFly. Why? Rumour has it Izzy’s old band, Wild, once toured with the band, and on tour, she started dating certain band member called Harry…
Piers spoke while the crowd were still on their feet. "You girls are my favourite act. I wanted an act that was glamorous and individual, who could blow them away. You're it"
Amanda said, "A guy backstage said you are top birds. I can't think of anything else to say. I think you are world class. You could represent this country all over the world".
And Simon said, "I have seen three or four acts that are brilliant, you are one of them after the shambles of the Eurovision, along come you guys, you could represent us anywhere in the world. A really, really good performance".
There’s just one more act aiming for success this evening and that is Signature. The duo upped the ante on their Jacko routine and added an eight-strong team of wannabe cleaners to the stage show, and had the crowd in uproar and on their feet long before the end of the performance. Go on admit it - you were dancing in your seat!
Piers said, "Before you performed we thought there were four acts who could win. It is now one of those five. We're very proud of you."
Amanda said, "You've always been one of my favourites. If piers joined the band he would handicap you. You're fun and full of energy. This competition is wide open."
"This competition is wide open. We love you!" said Simon.
And that, ladies and gents' is the end of the show. We've seen all ten finalists perform and you now, hopefully, know who is your favourite.
The ITV 1 show returns at 9.30pm for the all important results. For one act, life will change this evening. Who has what it takes to make in the entertainment world?
