It's on to live show two of Britain's Got Talent and with the judges in place and Simon Cowell's hangover (hopefully) not affecting his mood, let's get into the swing and on with the action!
The 39-strong Mandy Ellen dancers provided exactly the show opener they had been hoping for - well it did feature leotards and fishnet stockings for some... and a high-kicking, booty-shaking routine as well! The Maidstone boys and girls were out to prove they had great flair in the competition... but the judges comments floored them in the end.
"You are in the toughest category," said Piers, "But I've got to say. I thought you were terrific".
"You are inspirational to your generation," said Amanda.
One of the most talked-about performers of the competition came next, the fabulous contortionist Iona Luvsandori. Iona got injured in rehearsals which gave her a swollen lip, a lot of pain and a day in hospital. Even so, she pulled out all the stops in strategically placed spangles to provide a breathtakingly bendy display which culminated in a one handed handstand and and upside down pirouette...put your best foot forward/back/behind your ear indeed!
"They only think I've seen like that is Amanda doing her yoga in the morning. You're a freak of nature... in a good way!"
The serious risk of injury make it more interesting", says Simon, "a round of applause!"
Every show needs a few Cheeky Monkeys and soon it was time to hand over to Britain's Got Talent resident twosome, - no, not Ant & Dec - the mega talented mini-boppers Charlie Dixon and Krista Hyatt. The pair managed an almost impossible task on tonight's Britain's Got Talent - the twinkle-toed twosome danced their way into his usually unfreezable heart as the jiggled along to the song lollipop.
"I'd love to see you go further," said Amanda. "You're brilliant".
"Yes, you're not stage school monsters," said Simon. "You're really cute!"
Not making quite such a good impression were the operatic elders Kay and Harvey. The Bristol duo had half the audience in rapture and half the audience in pain as they trilled their way through Simon's favourite Westlife track, You Raise Me Up. What very high pitched genius! (Simon of course, buzzed 'em. What a spoilsport!)
"I think tonight you were miles better than your audition. You represent to older generation and you should be proud of yourself," said Piers.
"It was verging on torture," said Simon.
So that's the first four acts of tonight's Britain's Got Talent - and no-one's going to argue that there isn't plenty of variety here!
