Stavros Flatley and Shaheen Jafargholi win!26 May 09

Stavros Flatley and Shaheen Jafargholi are in Britain's Got Talent's Grand Final.

No less than four acts stood on the Britain's Got Talent stage tonight and burst into floods of tears.

Overflowing with joy were Stavros Flatley, who bagged the overall top spot thanks to the public vote. This puts the father and son duo, who performed a hilarious Zorba the Greek dance routine, one step closer to the Royal Variety Show. And when dad Demitri told son Lagi, "No matter what happens, thanks for asking me to dance with you. I've had the time of my life, I swear," they almost had the crowd overcome with emotion as well!

Sharing the celebrations is Shaheen Jafargholi, who will have to set aside his sadness about having to say goodbye to his mates in MD Show Group, the act he beat in the Judges' vote-off. All of the judges had been impressed by Shaheen's song, with Piers proclaiming his And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going "The best singing performance of the semi-finals". Simon also called him "A real contender in the competition".

Praised for the passion they put into their performance, MD show group were wrought with emotion by the time the night was over. And despite what Amanda called a "technically perfect" performance, Simon's barbed comments left ballroom dancer Ben to comfort sister Becky when Simon's tongue-lashing got a little too sharp.

The night certainly had memorable moments aplenty, however, and Piers announced it as "the best show of the series so far". With Kay Oresanya's stupendous 'human sax' performance, and the "bonkers partnership" of Floral High Notes, there was always plenty to see. Harmony even burst from exploding birthday cake, and The Barrow Boys brought union flag wheelbarrows to add some patriotic flair.

Tonight's semi final reminded us that Britain's Got Talent is all about variety. Amanda hit the nail on the head when she said, "It made me laugh for all the right - and al the wrong! - reasons".

I think that too many dance acts go through, flawless and diversity BOTH got through but they can't BOTH win! And why did they show most of the best acts on the first night? I think Stavros Flatley are very good, they include comedy in their performance and are different. I think MD showgroup should have gone through tonight. Too many singers are going through. Haven't they heard of the x factor?! Why can't the younger acts at least wait and go on it? Give the variety a chance people....

Alba 21 I felt that Shareenn was shouting his way through and what when his voice breaks!

giraffe129/05/2009 14:03:28

As for Shareen he has been pusheed by his mother although he has an excellant voice and without a doubt plenty of coaching this show should have age limits for which they can apply and make a show for 'Talented Youngsters'

I totally loved the results. Even though it would be better if Shaheen got through by most votes. Anyone who said MD is better should try and sing and dance. MD dance move can be learned quite easily. Shaheen voice? It's impossible to get it without any talent. Anyway, I am not gonna start flaming or anything. I wish all the Finalists a very good luck! Love you Shaheen. =]

I think Stavros Flatley is heartwarming, and it's just lovely that this father and son love each other so much. However, I was totally floored when SF got the public vote -- Shaheen and the dance group are both more talented, and this is, after all, a talent contest. I was sorry that the judges had to choose between MD and Shaheen, but I think they chose rightly. I have to wonder if SF's friends all called many times each.

Shaheen, the Brasil whole is rooting for you ... Everyone knows that the dispute with Susan Boyle will be very difficult, but I believe that you can once again surprise the world . Good Luck Boy As proof that you read this, the next presentation will detail some of his clothes in green and yellow? Brazil loves you.

Singers should not be excluded. Susan Boyle would not do well in X Factor. I, for one, do not watch X factor as it's all wannabe celebrities and sob stories. This is a talent show and all talent should be welcome. However it is also about variety and for that Gareth and Merlin should be included in the finals! bring them back! Two losers from the semi-finals should get through!!

like i've said on previous comments, this competition should only be open to people who DON'T qualify for xfactor, shaheen is too young to appear on there, but shaun and susan were perfectly capable, i think the semi finals should've been put into catagories, e.g. singers against singers, dancers against dancers, funny entertainment, instrumental entertainment etc. that way there would be variety in the final. i love little hollie steel though and can't wait to hear her sing again!!!!!!!

I'm loving the show. However,I don't understand why Gareth(voice thrower),Merlin(escapologist),Shaun& Flawless were all on same night! Then the next night is lacking in talent! Now we have all dancers and singers! This was very poor planning. Both Gareth & Merlin were very talented and promised more.I feel the only solution is that on the last semi-final either the public or the judges get to vote one or 'losers' back in to finals. To guarantee variety!

MD Showgroup deserved to get through more than Shaheen. He's not even a REALLY good singer and MD Showgroup put way more energy and effort into their performance. Plus what's gonna happen when Shaheen's voice breaks? He's not gonna be able 2 sing that high 'n' stuff... Flawless 2 win!
