21st Century Spice Girls

Girl band Brit Chix were understandably ecstatic when they found out that they had made it to the semi-finals, because they’re hoping it’ll bring an end to one chapter in their lives and open a new all-together more glamorous one.

Brit Chix consists of sisters Maddie and Victoria, and drumming sensation Paisley who answered an ad the siblings posted six years ago. In that time the girls have been relentlessly touring the holiday camp circuit in the hope of being spotted and signed up to a record label.

“Our life has been exactly like Phoenix Nights!” Maddie explained: “Our parents are very supportive; they drive us to all of our gigs and my mum even makes our outfits… she’s the original Brit Chick, she rigs the lighting for us and everything, it’s like having a proper roadie!”

Although the girls concede they had to keep Paisley’s mum away from the Britain’s Got Talent audition on account of the massive crush she has on Simon Cowell!

“She’ll be mortified we said that!” giggled Paisley.

“We’re thrilled to have got through to the live stages, it seems that after a very slow start, the Brit Chix career we all hoped for might actually be going somewhere,” said Victoria: “We all work as promo girls during the days demonstrating coffee machines and handing out leaflets… if we could swap that for recording days in the studio then that would be amazing!”

Six months ago the girls decided to re-vamp their image and it looks like the decision to change has paid off.

“We changed our look and decided to punk-it-up a bit, and we thought if we’re going to do that we should probably play instruments… so here we are six months later all playing something… I play the bass now, this time a year and a half ago I didn’t even know what a bass was!”

So what can we expect from Brit Chix for the latter stages of the competition?

“We’re like the Spice Girls – but with instruments,” said Maddie: “We want to conjure up that same sense of fun that the Spice Girls managed to whenever they performed… we’re fun, we’re rock chicks and we’re here to win!

“Obviously we want superstardom, but if we can’t have that, then we’ll settle for making a living through our music.”

Will the girls be swapping caravan parks for sell-out arenas? Leave your comments below.

Never mind the kids, these chix rock and deserve a place in the final. They bring something different to the normal reality show rubbish.

Fantastic group - the kids loved the act (and so did I). I really hope to see you hit the big time. We need a girl group with a bit more to them rather than all fluff and giggles. I am going to break my golden rule of not voting this year especially for you.
