Move over George, it's Aidan! - Britain's Got Talent - Story

Move over George, it's Aidan!16 May 09

Aidan Davis

We all watched George Sampson perform on last year’s Britain’s Got Talent – and we all probably gasped because he was so good!

The rest of us may have congratulated George on his talents, but one young performer, Aidan Davis from Birmingham, vowed that he, too, could also impress.

Eleven-year-old Aidan tells Ant and Dec, “When I saw George dance I though it looked really good”.

Even with no proper lessons to learn from, Aidan set about teaching himself... and was soon busting some pretty hot moves!

He says on-screen, “I practice around the house – outside, and in my room”.

“When I’ve perfected a move I’ll go downstairs and show my mum.”

“My dad always says I get my rhythm from him – but I don’t think so. I don’t think there is much rhythm when he works, on a construction site”.

“Really, I just love dancing. It means everything to me!”

Aidan’s talent for fancy footwork, together with him self-taught choreography skills, earn the judges respect during a routine for Flo-Rida Feat. T-Pain’s hit Low.

And Piers’ previous worries – that second rate George wannabe’s would flood onto the show – proved unfounded. He tells a nervous and breathless Aidan, “We feared we might get millions of George Sampsons trying their luck who wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as him”.

“I’ve got to say I think you are as good as George”.

Amanda agrees, saying, “There has been a bar on this show, and you just raised it, darling”.

But Simon seems to need further convincing: “I don’t necessarily agree with that…”

Aidan’s delight begins to fade – until the talent-spotter says, “… And I’ll tell you why. I think you are better than George Sampson”.

“I think you are the best dancer we have seen in three years of the show. I think you are super, super, super talented”.

Securing an “Absolutely, yes” from Piers, a “100% yes” from Amanda and a "million percent yes” from Simon, Aidan couldn’t have hoped for more.

With Simon musing afterward, “We’ve just seen a little star, that little dancer,” everyone in the auditorium was left talking about the act they’d just witnessed.

And sharing the cheers and the hugs backstage an impressed Ant McPartlin ponders, “That was amazing”.

“We’ve never had three ‘supers' before!”

I really dislike the title for this page: "Move over George, it's Aidan!" I think you'll find George does not need to mvoe over as he still loved by Britain, and frankly, he is better than Aidan.

Why do people act like they know celebrities and their family!? annoying. George works hard at what he does because he hasnt the NATURAL talent of aidan. 2 grand to win, he reminds me of the grandfather i never had!
