Hands up if you thought Geisha Davis’s audition was the most fun and frightening audition ever! Here, the performance artist talks about that audition and her plans to turn Simon into a Geisha guy.
Why did you pick Humpty Dumpty?
Humpy Dumpty is the best nursery rhyme ever. People often misunderstand Humpty. I read it as a child and really identified with the words. I also love eggs.
Speaking of eggs, fried or scrambled?
That’s a tough question. I’d have to say neither and opt for a boiled egg. I’m not fan of scrambled eggs – you often get bits of the shell in it, which reminds me of Humpty.
Humpty Dumpty was a bit unlucky, wasn’t he?
No - Humpty Dumpty was clumsy. He should have been more careful on that wall. My performance illustrated well the point at which he fell off the wall and shattered into pieces.
Your make-up was impressive…
I love the art of disguise. I would love to do Simon up as a Geisha guy with white face paint and a kimono.
How long have you been performing for?
I’ve been performing for four and a half years now. I love the avant garde. I’m all about pushing boundaries with my performance. Simon got what I was about – he could see there was an element of artistry in my performance.
Why do you think Alesha was so scared?
I like Alesha – we’d need to chat and get to know each other properly. Once she got to know me, she’d no longer be frightened.
