Relive the magical fourth Semi Final in pictures

Four nights into the Live Semi Finals, our fab four Judges are as determined as ever to find the cream of the crop of Britain’s entertainers. ‘There is no room for mistakes,’ said Amanda Holden as she took her seat on the panel. Have our contestants done their country proud? ‘A hundred million percent yes,’ said Simon. So far, so good.

Saucy Colombian hip-shaker Chica Latina returned to the BGT stage wearing a sparkling mini. Belting out J.Lo tune On The Floor, the hairdresser’s swaying hips and charisma made the performance a hit with the Judges. David noted, ‘You’re a very sexy woman’, while the rest of the panel said her act was more ‘sophisticated and polished’ than at her audition. 

Hunky Swedish magicians Brynolf and Ljung stepped up their game for the Semi Final with a grand illusion that saw the duo reveal a movie Alesha had chosen in secret. After conjuring up a number of clues, the sexy sorcerers made a Harry Potter lookalike appear on stage, leaving the audience spellbound. They cast a spell on the Judges too - including dark lord Simon - who gave them rave reviews.

After his shaky-yet-beautiful audition, expectations were high for little Malakai Paul. The nine-year-old tackled another difficult song choice by soul diva Alicia Keys. Not only did the Judges love his performance, they also praised Malakai for being more confident. David Walliams even called it ‘the greatest comeback of all time.’

Hapless comedian Gatis Kandis returned to the BGT Semi Final with more classic one-liners such as ‘When it’s hot, I am a fan of a fan…’ Again, he managed to crack up the audience and Judges with his off-beat sense of humour, if not for quite the right reasons. Simon hit the nail on the head when he described the routine as ‘so terrible, it’s fantastic’, while Amanda agreed Gatis is ‘funny in a really odd way’. 

Adorable couple The Sugar Dandies took to the floor in matching pale blue suits and delivered a heartfelt performance to I Am What I Am. With their love for one another and passion for ballroom obvious they were a joy to watch, but split the Judges’ opinions.

While David called them his ‘favourite act of the night’, Simon declared they wouldn’t pass his TV remote ‘flick test’. 

Nu Sxool showed off their dance skills set to a medley of Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and some bangin’ dance tracks. The Judges loved their energetic and witty performance, with Simon calling them ‘the best act of the night’ and Alesha praising their ‘wicked tricks’.

Burlesque beauty Beatrix Von Bourbon delivered another stunning performance. Unwrapping herself from a silken black gown, the brunette minx used feathers, lashings of glitter and (faux) fur to spare her modesty but tantalize at the same time. The Judges praised her artistic performance, but they expressed their doubts about the entertainment value of her act.

The swoon-some Sam Kelly wowed us once more with his beautiful voice and a stripped-back rendition of Goo Goo Dolls hit, Iris. After a rousing round of applause from the audience, the Judges gave the musician rave reviews for his ‘sensitivity’ and ‘distinctive voice’. David even called Sam ‘the one to watch’. 

Be Minor brought the house down with their funky mash-up of The Clapping Song and These Boots Are Made For Walking. The Judges had a few minor pointers to make, but they all spotted the potential in the teeny boppers, with Simon describing their performance as ‘incredible’ for their age.

Urban hit machine Labrinth funked up da jam with his take on soul classic, Express Yourself. We don’t know about you, but he totes had us shimmying around our living room!

With talent galore in each of the Semi Final shows, the results reveal always leaves us hanging off the edge of our seats. And tonight was no different, with so many contenders for the top three. In the end, it was down to Sam Kelly, Malakai Paul and Nu Sxool hoping for a place in the Final.

With the most votes, Sam Kelly went straight into the Final. We certainly didn’t envy the Judges having to choose between adorable Malakai Paul and little firecrackers Nu Sxool. But with votes from Alesha, Amanda and Simon, the dancing students blazed into the next round.
