And while his 'sherbet leisure wear' might have entertained the judges, the Devonshire teen is standing by his outfit choice!
Speaking to us as he came off-stage, the IT engineer - who lives in a 'quite posh' caravan with his mum and dad - revealed: "I never expected such an amazing reaction from the judges - but I was prepared for the comments about my outfit. But this is just me, this is what I wear!
"Although now I'm through to the next round, I think I should maybe smarten up a bit. Maybe jeans and a shirt?"
19-year-old Michael - who proposed to his girlfriend in an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet - told us he'd never experienced an adrenaline rush quite like the one he had on the BGT stage.
He said: "It was just amazing. The adrenaline running through my body now is the best feeling I've ever had in my life. I've only ever played to a crowd of about 40 people so to have a standing ovation like that was just awesome."
And while he might have won an army of admirers in Cardiff, Michael told us his biggest fan is the baby he is expecting with fiancee Sarah.
He said: "My fiancee lays on her side and I'll pull up a chair and strum away for her and the bump and then the baby will start kicking. It's amazing. I'd love it to play the guitar or even the ukelele or something."
