About the show

The Britain's Got Talent show concept is simple. This is a nationwide talent contest where the winner gets to perform their act at the prestigious Royal Variety Show, pick up a cheque for £100,000, and catapult themselves towards superstardom.

Could it be any simpler? Nope. Could it be any more entertaining? Not a chance!!

Michael McIntyre, David Hasselhoff, and guest judge Louis Walsh join Amanda Holden on the judging panel. They may bicker, they may snigger... but their manicured hands are always wickedly poised by their buzzers to puncture long-held ambitions in a heartbeat. Join in the fun at the audition stage, as we surf the talent spectrum all the way from the sublime to the seriously awful!

Each act takes to the stage hoping they’ll be the one to delight. The judges hold hopes in their hands, but as soon as the act fails to impress, they are buzzed off. If there are three dreaded buzzes the audition is over; if they last the full three minutes onstage, they could be in luck!

This year for the first time ever we have accepted online audition submissions. People could upload videos of themselves performing their talent to YouTube, where the judges would watch the submissions and decided whether they warranted a place in the live semi-finals.

When the thousands of hopefuls have been whittled down to 40 favourites, we have five days of live semi-final shows. Here's where judge opinion and public vote collide in a five-day variety extravaganza, until just 10 acts, hand-picked by the public remain for the grand finale.

There will be tears, there may be tantrums, but one thing's for certain... one talented act, who proves Britain's Got Talent, will be crowned the ultimate winner by series hosts Ant & Dec.

It's easy to play your part in the action. Just tune into ITV1 every Saturday night for seven weeks of family fun, and then vote for your favourite acts once the live shows begin.
