39-year-old music teacher Julian Smith takes to the Britain's Got Talent stage with the ultimate goal of playing his Soprano Saxophone for a living. Although Simon's not in the greatest of moods before he begins, Julian certainly manages to his frown into a smile, as he realises he may have just discovered one of Britain's hidden talents

All I can say about Julian is Fantastic Fantastic Fantastic. Wow what a performance last night on the final of Britains Got Talent. This guy deserves everything that comes his way. I shall be waiting for his albums to appear. A true master of the sax and would love to see and hear him live. Absolutely fantastic and I really mean fantastic. Well done Julian and the very best of luck for the future.

To "drthorogood" you said; "Who cares about Julians past" Clearly he does if he has used a different name and deleted his myspace page and "he has a fantastic talent and I hope he wins" well the point of this show is for AMATEURS to have their big break, something Julian claims to have not had (because a record contract and performing with well known musicians in famous jazz clubs is not a big break) Julian is a liar who has decieved the country and does NOT deserve to win.

I keep seeing these sad comments by 99scs and it makes me wonder what 99scs is hiding. Could it be that you have know talent of your own and like so many other sad people in this country take pleasure in knocking anyone who dares to make something of themselves. Who cares about Julians past, he has a fantastic talent and I hope he wins.

Joolz, according to his own promo company has also appeared on t.v., and has played on well-known stages, including the Birmingham Symphony Hall and the world famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club (London and Birmingham). So, his claim that the biggest audience his played in was in some park in Birmingham for half-an-hour is a little misleading (not a lie, perhaps, but misleading).

I've noticed a number of my messages have been deleted also. Me thinks ITV doesn't like some of the comments that have been posted. I agree with maxschreck. 5 album deals just don't walk away. People lose them for a reason. Possibilities: 1) Sony didn't think Joolz had anything new to offer (one album was enough). 2) Joolz isn't that creative. It takes talent to play, it takes even more talent to compose, arrange and come up with new material. Joolz may not have what it takes.

soz, looks like my original message went walkies, i commented that julian had played since 1993 or abouts, for various bands/artists, some top ones like Tony Hadley(spandau ballet), what happened to the 5 album contract offered

ooo now you getting me mad haha, left a comment ages ago bout joolz and his offer of a 5 album contract, wondering what happened to that, or my comment.......

Interesting update: Joolz Gianni (aka Julian Smith) took down his MySpace page and canceled his account. Sounds like he's getting worried about his true identity being revealed and the effect it would have on his chances of winning the show. The deception continues.

Yet again, after been in entertainment management for the past 20 yrs it always ensures my thoughts that untapped talent such as this is out there. We need more live music venues throughout the UK. Given the chance of the plublicity the these acts get on Britains Got Talent makes it a brilliant programme!

Julian Smith ... PLEASE! ... I know so many talented sax players out there ... A Good commercial player he may be ... Great ! I'm not so sure ... People acclaim him to be the British Kenny G .. I'm not so sure I would like to be labelled with that title ... Don’t get me wrong .. Kenny G is a very talented and lovely sounding player .. Mr Commercial as he's other wise known as ... Julian Smith although sounding very Kenny G esk .. Is not in my opinion a truly great player .. just a G clone !!!

deanothesaxman21/04/2009 19:15:23

Yes, a lovely player ... but nothing special, I like many other great UK players have been vastly underrated for years, to try and get UK A&R guys to come to gigs is virtually impossible ... under hand tactics of record companies leave a lot to be desired .. Most sax players hate Kenny G for his truely commercial approach .. Like Baker street .. we all cringe ! People only rate what they hear on the radio ... there lies in the main problem .. !
